The Basics of Poker

Depending on the rules of the game, you may be able to draw replacement cards, or “hole” cards, during or after this phase.

The game of Poker became popular in the 1990s as tournaments were televised and films like Rounders, where Matt Damon plays underground poker games to help his friend repay a loan shark, elevated it into mainstream culture. Today, Poker is one of the most popular card games in the world. It is played in casinos, on television, and online, with a growing interest in the game among younger generations. Many young people are drawn to the game because of its social aspect and entertainment value, while others are interested in achieving high levels of success.
